Contrast- looking at the differences between something. Text structures-refers to how the information within a written text is organized. This strategy helps students understand that a text might present a main idea and details; a cause and then its effects; and/or different views of a topic. These definitions are important because they are the Key Terms throughout this unit. The student will need to know what compare, contrast, and text structures are. As students learn to read, they should learn to recognize different text structures so they can predict what type of information is included. This will raise text structure understanding and will to lead to a permanent improvement in reading skill.
